5 Things to Know About Baltimore Ravens Linebacker and Alum Teddye Buchanan

Teddye Buchanan ’24 called from Baltimore, shortly before training camp with the Ravens was set to begin. The alum was drafted to the team in April, becoming the first Aggie to be drafted by the National Football League since 2002. He’ll be an inside linebacker.

“This year has been one of the crazier years of my life,” Buchanan said, “but a ton of fun.”

A new collaboration between UC Davis Athletics and the UC Davis Graduate School of Management, or GSM, is creating a new pathway that extends student-athletes' collegiate careers while preparing them for post-competition success.

Majorettes Come to UC Davis

A new group has emerged on the campus football fields and basketball courts: UC Davis’ first majorette team. Founded by third-year students Leah Roberts and Sade Adams, the team combines elements of jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance to showcase an important element of black culture.

“Creating the majorette team was like finding that missing piece in my experience at Davis,” said Roberts. “It was like a piece of home.”

Former student-athlete Andrew LaCour ’24 landed his dream job in baseball close to home.

The left-handed pitcher spent four years with Aggie baseball before signing a contract in August with the Yolo High Wheelers, a new team in the Pioneer Baseball League, or PBL. The team just completed its inaugural season at a familiar location, on campus at Dobbins Stadium, where LaCour took the mound throughout his collegiate career.
